| Outward Appearance | Hiril Earalenia, is of middling stature, with dark brown hair, that is often mistaken as black. Her eyebrows are finely arched and draw attention to her sullen green-eyes. She is not particularly remarkable in the appearance department, and often wears simple gowns or merely her well-travelled, well-worn scholar's robes. Her hair is often slightly tangled, as it falls down to her shoulders. If correctly brushed it would most likely be slightly longer. A certain stray hair constantly falls over her left eye. |

Background
Eäralenia, was found parentless just before the second great battle of the elves, Dagor-nuin-Giliath. This was of no great import however as she grew up well-tended by other families bereft of loved ones during the years following The Battle under Stars. She grew up fairly wild running free amongst the trees of Doriath and playing music besides the streams and trees. She paid little attention to the problems of the wider ages. Of Dwarves she saw little, only the few that were permitted into The Halls of Menegroth at this time, and their rough speech and strange ways fascinated her but it was the coming of men that truly changed her. The arrival of the Haleth in the forest of Brethil increased her curiosity of the outer lands of Middle-Earth and despite the dangers she began to wander. The Edain of that time were often keen to learn Elven lore and language, so Eäralenia began to teach what little she knew. Having never formally learned herself she returned to Menegroth seeking out the lore and knowledge of her own people so that she might travel amongst the men once more and teach them of elven ways. But trouble was not far away and upon Elu-Thingol upon obtaining the Silmaril and not surrendering it, no elf of Doriath was welcomed in the wider world. At about this time she learn’t more of the dwarven peoples, particularly those of the Nogrod, who came in large parties and were tasked with the reforging of Nauglamir. So it came about that Menegroth fell and the Girdle of Melian was removed. As confusion reigned, Eäralenia fled, with others and wandered once more amongst the wilds of the world, seeking sanctuary. There were few places of sanctuary so she lived a disturbed existence, running from on e place to the next orcs and foul beasts aprowl in the land, healers were hard to find and she learnt most of her healing abilities in this time. Finally the hosts of Valinor came to throw down Angband and destroy Morgoth’s power forever, a battle in which she played only a small role, attending to the hurt and fallen far behind the primary lines. Seeing the wounded left a distinct taste of disappointment to her and she foreswore all violence. This decision could not be upheld however, for although Morgoth had been cast out and new realms of men and elves were established still some remnants of the great enemy remained, and loving a wandering existence unable to return to Menegroth, self-protection with sword and shield was a vital defense. Finally she came to call Edhellond home, setting up a small tower to which she returns upon occasion to deposit her findings. As the third age draws to an end and many elves depart the shores of middle-earth forever, she knows that she will soon to depart and is attempting to gather as much lore of elves, men and even dwarves as possible before she too departs.
