Braginli is the son of a fairly poor family.  They had enough money to get by, but with only a meager living.  He was the youngest of three children.  Braginli worked hard to make sure that his parents weren't overworked.  He cut wood from the forests around, and sold it to fuel people's fires and to expert wood carvers.  

When he was a young man, his parents were killed unbeknownst to him.  How they were killed, he does not know.  After their death, his brothers, of which he had two and was the least noticed, soon moved away to hear more news of the changing world and live their lives elsewhere.  Braginli has not seen them since.  He took up playing instruments crafted by one of the experts he once sold wood to.  His favorite instrument is the bagpipes.  Now Braginli wanders the world, seeking adventure and desiring to avenge his parents' deaths.  He had an encounter with a group of foul orcs in travels near the Misty Mountains, which reminded him of his heritage, from  Durin's folk, and the great hardships they've endured from evil creatures.  He wishes to one day to see and help in the freeing Khazad-dum.
