Son of a poet and a gardener, Lathrandir took to hunting at an early age, and it was not long before his parents realized their son was far too restless to remain in the Greenwood for long. As soon as Lathrandir came of age, he set out on a long and leisurely journey to cross the Misty Mountains and make his way to other lands, passing through Rivendell and eventually Bree, then north into Evendim (where he spent considerable time; fifty years at least).

A true wanderer at heart, Lathrandir disappears into the wilds for long years at a time, but delights in the company of other travelers, and has spent an unusual amount of time among Men. He is recently returned to the Trollshaws, and plans to begin the long journey back across the Mountains to his home...Mirkwood.
