Gwendes

Gwendes Vaughan
| Name | Gwendes |
|---|---|
| Status | Active |
| Occupation | Sentinel |
| Age | Young adult |
| Race | Man |
|---|---|
| Residence | No fixed residence |
| Kinship | None |
| Outward Appearance | Gwendes is possessed of long and dark chestnut hair that is almost always tied back neatly, or else stuffed inside of her helm for convenience. Her eyes are a pale, muted shade of green-grey, rimmed with shadows from too little sleep.
She is quite tall, with long legs and a slender body that gives her the appearance of someone younger than her own years. Gwendes is calm and composed, and her manner is rather serious - though not unkind. She wears a thoughtful expression most often, quietly observing those around her.
Her clothes and armour appear cheaply made, but well looked after. Her weapons - a halberd which is often strapped to her back as well as a small number of small knives fastened about her person - appear of the same ilk.
Most of Gwendes’ body is free from damage; although the knuckles of both her hands are blemished with the evidence of past fights and her right arm is badly scarred from wrist to shoulder as though from a burn. |

Background
Gwendes was born into a common farming family, sharing a farmstead with her parents, three elder and one younger sibling. Tragedy struck when Gwendes was eleven years old when brigands laid waste to her home, stealing crops and livestock and setting the farmhouse alight. Of the Vaughan family, only Gwendes and her two elder brothers survived the blaze, though both she and her eldest brother suffered terrible injuries in the process of their escape.
Although the brigands responsible for the theft and the fire were eventually caught and brought to justice, it did little to heal the hurt and anger felt by the three siblings. Unable to face returning to what was left of their home, Gwendes’ brothers sold the scorched land for what little money they could and then took their sister away, leaving their hometown far behind with a mind to start anew elsewhere.
Gwendes was raised thereafter by her brothers - who set their minds and skills to seeking out brigands and those of the same ilk before they brought harm to others as they had the Vaughan family. As she grew older, Gwendes found herself becoming more and more interested in her brothers’ work, and before long, convinced them to train her to be of use to them; working and fighting alongside them both to protect those who were unable to protect themselves, and who might otherwise come to harm at the whim of wicked folk.
Although she now spends most of her time separated from and further afield than her brothers, Gwendes still patrols the lands she wanders, keeping an eye out for trouble and lingering here and there as she sees fit in order to best make use of her skills.
