Sylrond, like many of his kind, was fair and fae; tho he oft was mistaken for the gentler sex. Fond of robes before armors, trademark to him were many-layered outfits of plush fabrics, though he was known to loath shoes and wandered often bare-foot. His hair was long to the point of inconvenience, dragging behind his step along the ground at times. It is of a fickle mind and cannot decide whether it is dark brown or dirty blonde, all of dependence of the day's light. A clever eye might spy unhealed-looking scarring at the edges of collar and wrist, though the Elf was rarely seen in things thin enough to show so.

Background

Asking around, it is said that the keeper of the Un-Light star ( Kibil-Khaled to my people ) was an elf: he is a beautiful ( by elf perceptions, which are decidedly removed from the writer's ) Vanyar-blooded Sindar noble born of House High-Leaf in Mithlond, this 'Sylrond'. Rosters list the name (in variations; Sila-rond, Silaronde) present in the early years of the Second Age, one of two apparent sons to Lord Brilluin; the military Commander of most of the Haven's forces.

The war came to the Havens, and the names Sylviel and Sylrond are among those of House High-Leaf to march with the Last Alliance to Imladris.

The record of what happens in the thick of battle is always muddied, and often written by the victors. For Sylrond one can assume there was no triumph in his survival; he had lost his king, his brother, and much of his home, for Lindon was a shadow of what it was, and both Gil-Galad and the heir-apparent to House High-Leaf, his brother Sylviel, were lost in the battles.

It is safe to say that his experiences in the war changed him, for none in Mithlond recollect the sons or son of Lord Brilluin ever returning from the wars, though the name has cropped up in the Third Age in use by an elven minstrel of uncanny beauty and solemn disposition, known by a strange glowing circlet he wears upon his brow. Whether this is the same elf is impossible to say, for most records of that time in the House of High-Leaf have been lost.

There are mortal men few who can attest the minstrel spent quite some time among them openly before departing to Imladris, due to some illness that kept him there against his will. The trail runs nigh cold in the House of Elrond, for none but the soldiers there claimed bearing witness to an elf of his description, and soldiers see many faces in their days, but all say that yes this minstrel came and mended, and moved east with caravans of dwarves.

Perhaps unsurprisingly enough it is with them that the name Sila-rond is known easily. But not as a minstrel; a warrior. Fierce and silently deadly, my fellows speak of this elf with reverence, for even I know  the tale of his forays into the deepest darks to return with the singing star. Lothlorien was where he made to, but alas!

Hunting reaches an impasse here, for casual inquiries among the Galahdrim of the Golden Woods are often only met with glares, drawn bowstrings, and an unkind recommendation to seek back West over the mountains. Following thus, there are few leads to the whereabouts of the warrior minstrel-prince. There are whispers of an elven House, a 'House Halitir', but finding documentation of such has only ended in empty air.

This humble writer, pursuing the tales of the keeper of Kibil-Khaled must regrettably admit defeat. What trail there was runs cold, and we must only wait for another to chase where old age has stopped this one's journey for truth. Perhaps the stone is just that: legend. Or perhaps it and its keeper walk the world still, in places that my old eyes cannot see...

Who can say?
