Here Safely and in Your Company.

Bexly found a quiet little spot by a fire in the back of The Prancing Pony. It was warm and cozy and she was feeling the same as she wrote and rewrote in her book. She hummed a little tune and continued to scribble away.

Overall her first few days in Bree had been filled with new friends and kind people willing to help her send supplies back to Trestlebridge. But there was a conflict she found herself in from the moment she came to town. Two men, she thought were friends, joking at first, were really two men with something between them she had no idea about. Furley and Baraque.

Furley and his feathered hat drew her attention away from her cider the moment she saw him, and Baraque’s rudeness made her dislike him instantly. As luck had it Baraque quickly left her sight and she remained in the company of Furley and his card game Fiefdoms. Her father taught her a card game that they played on cold winters nights in Trestlebridge, but Furley's cards were magnificent. Nothing like the little scraps of paper in the deck her father had. She was instantly mesmerized by him, and his game. They spent the evening sharing drinks and playing cards. Each card telling a story as they laid them down, and each of them telling a little more about themselves to each other. When the night drew late, and the jug of cider became empty the two parted ways. Before he left, Bexly agreed to join his company as a messenger, and he left her with two letters to deliver.

Over the next few days Bexly saw Furley again and they enjoyed a few more games of Fiefdoms along with stories of favorite places and a walk to see one of his. Bex gave him a box to protect the beautiful cards and a small wood carving of The Lady card as a keepsake. She had made several jokes and references to the card in their games together and she thought it a fitting gift.

Bexly also made a few more new friends in those few days,Nathan and Kelpie and a friendly barmaid Ristiinna.  One night she enjoyed a nice evening with the two fellas, and a few others, sharing songs in little garden inside Bree. She was inspired by the friendly company she'd met so far in Bree and encouraged by Nathan to write her words into a song.

Bexly scribbled down a few more words over the crossed out ones as she giggled to herself and recalled what Nathan said,  ''Given 'ow ye was weavin' it I be sure t'is some sign from the world ye should start writin' n' singin', lass!'' She scribbled and hummed until she finally thought the words flowed the way she wanted. She picked up her lute and sang her words to the tune she had in mind.

A little extra is all you need sometimes,

And just scrapping by is hard day to day.

A village on fire makes me bolder,

And I don't think I can stay the same.

I haul the miles that captivate,

And appear now as I'm dreaming of my fate.

It’s nice to be here safely,

Where the people are so kind.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And find time to share all your wine.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And in your company.

In the night,

It's only you for me.

The inns are full, and fires are warm,

The people are kind, and cups overflow.

Here, this life is what you make it,

Don’t let it slip away as you go.

It’s nice to be here safely,

Where the people are so very kind.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And find time to share all your wine.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And in your company.

In the light,

It's only you for me.

Every road that flows,

And the open air we share.

Draws us close,

And binds us every day.

And if we share a drink,

When times are fun.

When they are hard,

It will draw us close, oh so close.

It’s nice to be here safely,

Where the people are so very kind.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And find time to share all your wine.

It’s nice to be here safely,

And in your company.

In the light,

It's only you for me.
