On a trading expedition, rounding the ice bay, she was separated from her company by a blizzard. Saved by a loyal sled dog, this young and hapless Lumi-väki ended up on a series of mishaps and misadventures which took her across a land near a risen lake, into the company of strangely gruff men and women calling themselves Rangers, then along a brown-hued river, and finally to the cities of the etelä-väki, where she was told she might be safe and make a new life. For several years she worked at the Prancing Pony, occasionally made and regularly lost friends, was courted and even married for a while, but she never quite found a way to fit in amongst the southerners. When her follies and failings ended the last of her relationships, she returned in defeat back to her family in Sûri-kylä, where she could at least be alone and unliked amongst people she understood. Though her mother keeps trying to pair her off with people, the effort is futile; she found love and lost it, and will never love another.
