Log 1: Entry 5

I have been lazy.

Morning came and I didn't manage to sleep much. I ate and spoke with the staff of the Crow's Claw, they didn't recall any strange rumors or stories before the storm hit.

I had many errands to run and yet, I didn't do much of it. Felt too full and then I was distracted for the rest of the day.
Shouldn't eat as I did that morning, my body isn't used to it, but at least my mind can't conjure up things out of malnourishment. I sat down by the fountain outside the Prancing Pony, it was there I came across the man. Mister Zeylheim.
I thought that he was going to drink from the fountain, I gave him a warning. From there we started to talk.
Thinking back on it now, almost feels strange how natural it came to me. He's easy to speak with. There's common ground.

Made no plans on hiring an assistant that day but I have. This will give me more time to examine the two bodies left and test the pipe-weed I bought. Muddy Foot, I think it was called. Has an earthy smell to it and the hobbit mentioned there may be medical properties to it. If I can find such use for it, I'll have to do business with him more often.

I showed mister Zeylheim the infirmary and told him of the work that would be done. He accepted the job. When all was said and done, I invited him to join me at the Crow's Claw, he agreed and joined me after taking a stroll around Knotwood. It seems the man has found an old shack near the infirmary that he has plans on buying and fixing up.
We talked until the sun had set. I didn't even realize until he made mention of it. I suppose this is what people mean when they say that time moves quickly in good company. I was pleasantly amused.

A young woman joined us later in the evening, miss Taite Rushwood. Interestingly enough, the same woman that mister Zeylheim had made mention of earlier in the day. Told me little about her and her smile. Judging by his tone, I think that the man might be a bit smitten by the woman and has desires to know her further.
I can only hope that I haven't done any damages. I don't fare well with small talk and I may have spoken out of line. Embarrassed him or made the woman feel uncomfortable with a personal question. I'll have to remind myself to be more vigilant during conversations
in company, to study the behavior, their movements and try to read their mood. A difficult task but something I will need to put work into.

She didn't stay long and my new assistant appeared upset to see her leave. Hopefully, we shall be seeing her again and that I may be able to take a look at her leg. He tells me that the damage is probably permanent but I wish to have a look myself.
I've seen a man regain the use of his thumb after having it cut off. There is always some hope, even if it seems impossible. If you have the will to try.

I will get some sleep and approach my tasks with a fresh breath of air and a clear mind. This day and the company is something that was needed.
