Log 1: Entry 4

I am unable to sleep.

I've fled my home to try and find rest at the inn, but so far, it's futile. I'm still uncertain whether my hallucinations are caused by the lack of sleep, poor diet or if there is something in the water.
I've been hearing odd noises ever since I went to Bree to aid the Watch. That woman's face still haunts me, the silent scream. Did I see what happened in the Inn itself, with the dwarf? Impossible.
There
has been movement from the corner of my eye and yet, every time I turn there is nothing. My mind is playing tricks.

After hearing about The Thirsty Boar tavern from one of my neighbors, I had plans to visit. How strange that it was the very place I ended up in, a watcher guiding me to it. There I met the company who, I am told, were involved with this whole event. The Black Steel.

I was still shaken when I arrived. Tried to calm my nerves with a cup of wine, full one this time. The effect of which still lingers now.
I heard their account of the event that took place and the same story seems to crop up. A specter that attacked them, inside the Inn. There was the talk of Angmar and the North Downs, both places I'm unfamiliar with.
They will be delivering books on the two mentioned lands, borrowed from their own library. They also told me that the storm came from Angmar, that they had been warned of it.

    * Folklore, research

I learned that they all ate the same soup before this all happened, made from water in their well. I can only assume that the town itself has a well somewhere as a shared water source.
Madmen and poison seem far more likely at this point than ghosts. I have a theory that whoever planned this foul act may have poisoned the water sources, causing a wide hallucination. There is power in words and the mind can be easily made to believe things that are not there. Even my own mind is starting to see and hear things, just from these stories.

    * Ask about stories or rumors around the town, transparent figure
    *
Speak with the weapon smith, curved blade. Possibly dagger.
    * Find the wells, take samples.
    * Find a herbalist, local plants

The company may have been attacking each other, thinking and believing it was something else. Yet, they seem convinced it wasn't so. That there was some unnatural force that they fought.
For now, I will stay away from the well-water while I research this matter further. Tomorrow morning I will eat until full and finish preparing the dwarf, to take back to Bree. Will drop a small report off at the jailhouse and then see to my other errands.
