Cynlena was born in Snowbourn, in the Eastemnet. Following her mother's death in childbirth, her heartbroken father left his newborn daughter in her uncle's care and continued his service as a soldier of the Mark.

Cynlena was a smart little girl but not a very sociable one. She was moved to Hytbold to live with her uncle's family. As she grew up into a young woman, she would spend entire days alone just riding through the surrounding hills and fields.

Alas, orcs came from the east to raid the Sutcrofts and her father was killed in battle. Cynlena barely escaped with her life as the orcs set Hytbold on fire. She fled to Cliving for safety but she left Rohan soon after this tragedy, hoping to leave behind the sadness of now being an orphan.

She travelled far into the north and west, eventually reaching Bree-land where she studied the local history. From there, she started participating in expeditions to various ruins and historical sites in search of ancient relics and treasures.

UPDATE: While travelling to join such an expedition to the ruins of Eregion, Cynlena was ambushed by a group of hostile Dunlendings. She was beaten hard and left to suffer in the wilds until death. Surely, she would have met her end there without a band of Elves passing by and rescuing her.

The Elves cared for her and she journeyed back with them to the refuge of Rivendell. She learned much there and slowly recovered from her injuries before returning to Bree. With renewed health and confidence, Cynlena resumed her life of exploring and treasure-seeking.
