Bree Hunter's Lodge
We have made it to Bree. The journey was fairly uneventful, but the fresh air felt nice, as did using my legs once again.
Bree is much larger than I expected.
A guard greeted us at the gate and offered some suggestions on where to visit.
We took a leisurely stroll through the town, visiting the marketplace. There were many fine items, though we did not have the coin to purchase anything.
We visited the Prancing Pony Inn...the smell of ale made the lack of coin an even larger blow. The barkeep was a friendly fellow; I asked him where we could find some work. He seemed rather suspicious of our inquiries, but suggested the hunting lodge, all the same.
As the barkeep suggested, we made our way to the hunting lodge - but as we left The Pony, we spotted some sort of military-styled building. I inquired the purpose of this building at the door, the guardsman told me it was a training hall for members of the Bree Town Guard and Town Watch.
I asked the man if there was a position available, and he seemed unsure of how to answer. I sensed he was very suspicious of me, though maybe I am just paranoid. I did not press for an answer, instead asking if I could possibly use their facilities to get some training done, as I explained my situation.
He still seemed unsure, but obliged with my request regardless.
We made our travels to the hunting lodge, once again. The streets were bustling with activity and chatter.
After getting somewhat lost, we finally found ourselves down a rather hidden alleyway, which lead to our destination. We were greeted at the door by a rather friendly man, but we were turned away. It seems they are very proud of their guild and require proof of worth to enter their lodge.
Kirseth and I asked if they had any work available, and the man gladly told us of an expedition to the Barrow Downs. We offered our services, happily.
We bid farewell to the man and made our way back to Hookworth. By the time we were back in the village, it was nightfall.
We were made aware of a vacant house in Hookworth, and were given permission to sleep there for a while as we get back on our feet.
I am about to retire to bed in this house now. The extra space and privacy is certainly a sigh of relief, though the guest house was very nice.
The journey has left me tired and aching, but it was rather enjoyable to be traveling again.
Hopefully I am up to the task of aiding this expedition.
We leave in a week.
