It had been a while since I had seen Roystan, but then I suppose we had both been busy with very different work. He was with one of my kin, a loud dwarf going by the name of Ulfrygg. He reminded me of some of my kin from my youth, loud violent, no sense of subtlety, but then there was no need for it really. They were heading down to beggars alley, looking for some criminal or another, I don't remember, and didn't really care. I didn't have much else to do so I went with them. When we reached the alley, it was amusing to see the effect the place had on them. Both looked disgusted by the sight, you'd think they were royals or something by the reaction!
As we ventured in, I was given the suprise of the day by the appearance of Hawther beating hell into some unfortunate soul. Our business arrangement being what it was, I made no attempt to stop him, he was done by the time the other two caught up anyway. You could tell from his face Roystan took and instant dislike to Hawther, he never was good at social skills though, I told him it'd cost him, and it did.
As he waded into the alley, Hawther let all hell lose, bellowing that Roystan was a rich sort. Naturally the alley went mad, within seconds Roystan was swamped by a sea of desperate beggars and thugs. Ulfrygg was next into the alley, axe swinging as he tried so hard to get to keeper. Several of the beggars fell dead or dying to his blows within seconds. Me and Hawther joined the fray, though for less noble reasons I must admit. I came up against a massive bald human who fancied his chances. He soon regretted it with a pair of broken legs. After several other confrontations, I could finally make out what was happening. Roystan had been stripped of just about anything of value, right down to his shoes. He'd been knocked down and was out cold, though he was fortunate someone had the heart to drag him into a tent out of the confusion. Ulfrygg had cut a large bloody swathe through homeless with his axe. He seemed to have forgotten about his friend, and was going on some quest for revenge. Even I was felt shock at the damage he was causing, it was immense in size. Hawther was up the other end of the alley, beating hell into a large bandit with his fists, and looking like he was enjoying himself immensely. I couldn't blame him, such brawls are good for the soul!
Those still alive, conscious and able to walk quickly cleared out after seeing the carnage, to them no wealth was worth such risk to life or limb. Ulfrygg finally calmed down and went back to check on his keeper, who by this time was finally waking up from his nap. A few of his items had been recovered, but certainly not all. The woman who'd pulled him to safety quickly left as well.
It was at this point that bloody Roystan decided to try and figure out who had caused all the death and destruction. I claimed not to know for the sake of keeping Hawther out of the cells and willing to do work for me. Ulfrygg however, and not without irony I thought, pointed the finger at Hawther anyway. Roy demanded that he take him into custody so he could hand him over to the watch. Obviously I couldn't let that happen so I had to move between them and Hawther. He took the opportunity to make his disappearance, but the dwarf fired a warning shot from his crossbow, understandably sending Hawther sprinting out of the alley. I was now left with these two, both staring like death at me. I tried to calm the couple, but Roy was having none of it, the righteous fool declaring me his enemy and all this that and the other, and after everything I've done for him as well! I thought It was going to come to blows, which may well have set him back in his place, but frankly I didn't trust his pet dwarf with that bloody axe of his. I left them standing in the carnage that they had brought upon themselves, thought I doubt it'll be the last time I see them, of that I'm certain.
