To Lord Veryacano,
honoured Lord of the Order of Hammer
Earlier today, a woman of the Second-born stumbled upon our encampment. As she was unarmed, thinly clad, and wounded, I judged her to be of no threat and allowed her to rest inside this outpost for a while.
I may add that her presence was also tacitly approved by Lieutenant Ancalasse when he returned, however I am willing to take full responsibility for it.
Upon being questioned, she revealed that her name was Lexiann, and that she had escaped captivity at the hands of evil Men.
I tended her wounds with my own hands, and asked that she be given what warm clothes we could spare, so that she might safely depart.
I, along with Lilleduil, then went forth to gather medicinal herbs to add to our supplies, with an escort graciously provided by the Warband, including Lord Khalis himself. A full account of this foray has been given to Lord Ambassador Parnard and Lady Danel, so I will merely add my humble request that, at an appropriate time, some commendation be given to Curundar, who by his swift spear stroke preserved my life, giving no heed to his not yet healed arm wound.
When we returned, the mortal woman had already left. I deem that she told us the truth, for I saw with my own eyes that she bore whip-marks upon her back, like someone who has endured torment or slavery. I need not remind you that the vilest of Mankind take pleasure in inflicting such upon other Men and, whenever they can, even upon the Eldar.
Thus, I urge that while we are within the Hithaeglir, we keep watchful not only against the wargs and goblins, but also against what evil Men may lurk here.
Alquamírë Veryalindiel,
humble servant of the Order of the Harp and Pillar
