Ancalasse is originally from the land of Hithlum. He does not talk about his parents who were rumouredly perished in Dagor Bragollach or anything vivid about his childhood. But at one point after the siege of Angband was broken, he -like few of his kinsmen- scattered like leaves in Beleriand and ended up in far eastern regions of the realm to keep up fighting. He offered his services to Lord Maedhros of Hithlad.

In Nirnaeth Arnoediad he did fight throughout the siege of Himring and was directly under Veryacano. The Fortress was mighty and bore the brunt of the eastern direction of the Morgoth offensive. Unbeknownst to him, the core of Veryacano's unit would later form a different chapter of his life. The Order of Hammer. During the siege he has seen a lot of friends perish and witnessed scenes of carnage. However he did distinguish himself with selfless service. If forced, he would even tell stories of difficulty regarding the days of Himring about "Boot eating"

After the breaking up of Beleriand he did follow Veryacano and offered his services to him. As Veryacano himself followed Vanimar, Ancalasse too sworn an oath for the house of Swans with him. He was immediately named a sergeant of Hammer and after a long and successful(?) service as a Quartermaster he is promoted into a lieutenant and oversees the Order's administrative issues now, chiefly the supply chain and logistics. 

Ancalasse carries a large two handed warhammer and is relentless in battle. Apparently he has lost all empathy and sentiment since Himring. He was also reported to snore loudly in field assignments.
