Entry 9

Today was interesting.  I dared to stray into Bree for the entirety of the day.  Within that time, I got into a debate and watched a burping fight.  The argument was interesting, some lass claimed that hunting was pouching.  A man and I tried to convince her that if we didn't hunt, we'd starve.  Her response was to get a job and buy meat.  It made me actually grow upset.  Telling me that I couldn't follow the common practices of my people, but instead have to get a 'job' just so I can eat.  People seem to not understand how hard it is to give up lifestyles.  To give up something I've done since I was a little kid, that my family taught me to do.  Not that I even hunt that often either, or in Bree.

It did irk me more that she determined me ignorant for not 'following' Bree laws.  Makes me laugh for the fact that I have not broken a Bree law since I left Dunland at the age of five (mostly because I don't go into Bree to begin with).  While the vast majority of Breelanders I know break laws on a daily basis through theft, forgery, and so on.  Yet us 'Southerners' have no respect for Bree people.  I have to say, because of Breelanders I don't have an ear and the letter M is burned into my good side of my skin.

Then she told me if we Southerners did not want to follow Bree laws, we should return to her lands.  I can't return to Dunland, not after all that has happen.  I don't even have family in Dunland.  The only people I know are in Breelands, if it wasn't for that, I would have left a long time ago.  But I have to say, I can't be too hard on the lady.  She knew nothing of who I am just as I knew nothing of who she is.  She didn't know of what happened to my Clan, what happened to me when I was little, and of what life I lead now.  Of the fact that people do not hire a lass who wears a mask, and the lass wears a mask because of her past.  Yet I don't know of her past either, for she might have had issues in the past with hunters who did hunt for wrong reasons.

Ah well, tonight I shall sleep in Forgoil's bed since he is away and my library doesn't have a bed and tomorrow I'll travel north again back to my island.  I haven't returned there since... well...

Anyways, the men I met later on today were quite enjoyable.  One tended to stink quite a bit, and sent the other man and his friend across the room.  Luckily there aren't many scents that bother my too much.  I stayed and we laughed.  It was a merry time.  I think I will call the stinky man Lossoth for he hails from Forochel and the other man Birdie.  The reason for Birdie is it comes from the name he introduced himself as.  The blind lass with them I think I'll refer to as Leather.

Leather was a sweet girl, but very quiet.  I knew very little of her, and she didn't speak much.  Birdie didn't speak as much either to be honest, other than he's Gondorian and he spoke Sindarin.  My knowledge of that language isn't strong enough to know everything he said though.  Lossoth spoke more about his past, about his father who abandoned him as a lad and him having to grow up on the ice.  He wasn't the most friendly of the bunch, having quite a temper.  But he was hilarious to be around nonetheless.

Eventually Lossoth grew too drunk, and Birdie had to bring him home.  I decided to head off myself too, not having much reason to stay in town.  I have to gather supplies to return home.  I'll return back to the homesteads to check on things, but I don't know about Bree itself.  I might come back, might not.  Depends on my mood I suppose.

Anyways, I'm bored right now.  Think I'll doodle.
