~~Here we are standing now. It was a next meeting of the Red Company and we were just south of the traders gate in Bree, by the boar fountain and the Mess hall. As usually, we stood in a row and we all gave Adilyr a fierce salute. “Greetings kinsmen…” he said. “Let us go inside.” He turned and entered the Mess Hall. I suppose that he we to bespeak some things inside, and by that, I entered like my kin.
Then we were inside. There stood two men. At least, I think they were both men and one was characterized by a red scarf. Another one approached with the mask of a bear. When looking farther, we saw that there was more people, all dressed with black clothes.
Adilyr said: hail land well met!” He was a little bit surprised to find strangers in the Mess Hall and So did I. And different people of my kin greeted the strangers. So I gave them a short nod as well. Adilyr was now restored of being surprised and said now for a second time, but self-confident: “Greetings to you all. I am sure you folk won’t mind if we find a place by the fire. “Hello Sleepyhead” said one with a low voice.
One of the other black-dressed strangers mumbled: “ Guess, we aren’t the only ones meeting here.” While raising a brow at the people in front of him. In that time, one of our members Arstelle already headed on to sit near the fire. The one with the bear-head looked critical to us, letting out a grunt and a grumble to himself. “Guess not.” Said another. We still did not know who they where, and what they were doing here. The most right one to me leaned on a wooden pillar in the middle of the room.
“It appears that this place is more popular than usual.”, followed Adilyr and laughed to one of the strangers. I’ve let out a mumble. “It’s really busy here…” I was still a little bit surprised. But then the door opened again and a man entered behind us…
He was a little bit of the same height as me, only a few centimeters lower. He had black or brown hear, I couldn’t see he very well in the light of the torches and the ovens, but it came at least to his shoulders. He looked very self-assured
I finished my sentence: “…At least, today…” The black dressed stranger who talked the most glanced over his shoulder and nodded: “Aye, seems it is.”
The man who entered, I found he did not look very friendly said: It seems that others got the place first.” In fact, it wasn’t. But he could not know and if possible, I wanted to keep that advantage. The one with the red Scarf spoke: “Fiontann… Why is the Red Company here?” I did not know how he know that we were the Red Company but our uniform should confirm that. It was clearly obvious, since we were all dressed in Red. Though I did not know that our name was so much known among other people.
The man called Fiontann said: “I don’t know.” The other members of my kin took a seat as well so I as the last one followed. When I heard the name, I hesitated. Fiontann….Fiontann…From were have I heard that name. I didn’t know from were I got that name, but I did!
Now the black dressed man, not Fiontann but the one with the red Scarf said: “It matter snot I guess.” I found they guessed much. The bear-head folded his arms and looked to us. He seemed to not be very talkative. He grumbled again. I got shivers of that! “It usually is…” Said Adilyr.
Fiontann clapped in his hands to get the attention of the black-dressed and he wandered. The one who talked the most in the begin turned and looked to Fiontann. “But there’s plenty of space!” concluded the leader of the red company. “I think we should go to another place. This is taken!”
“It looks to be…” said I. I did not know why I said that. “The training Hall?” Said the black dressed. “Not at all,” Said Adilyr quickly. “you folk are welcome to stay.” My attention was shortly drawn when Rutbragol sliced a piece of a roasted hog from the table.
But the man with the red scarf looked a little bit upset: “Why? Because of the red Company? Bullocks tot hem I say!” The black dressed folk gathered before Adilyr and Fiontann stood before them. I did not know the man, but when looking now, he seemed to be clearly the leader of that folk. He chuckled. “We were here first…” said the man with the scarf yet. “Don’t speak like this Rogue.” Answered Fiontann. Our leader laughed…and another black one smirked. “I have been here for over an hour now…” suggested he. The dwarf Diringul looked behind his shoulder and mumbled something to himself. I could not hear what he said. “If they were here first, then we should move on…” I finally added. Honest, it was true and I did not want to be such a mean man to really abuse the situation. But it didn’t matter. “We fight?” asked the man with the head of a bear. “ Adilyr tried to calm that fellow yet and tried to negotiate again. :” As I said, there is more than enough room for both groups. We shall take this fire over here.” Arstelle added quickly: “Distasteful language. Naught more than what I've come to expect from Bree. Nice town. Disruptive people.”
Fiontann called: “No one fights Pren.” I was glad. I got the feeling that he was the only one who could calm them. We shouldn’t fight, or the Bree watch should come between our folks. Fiontann sighed and lowered his head. Adilyr confirmed: “And you folk can take this space.” But the one with his scarf, I did not know the name of the man, argued: “We have a rather.. very important meeting with our kinsmen” The one called Pren grumbled for a third time to us.
“Aye, Rutbragol! If these ones want to talk, let them do so without the mumbling and grumbling!” Said Arstelle. She had clearly the same opinion as I had. Rutbragol who she spoke to called: Don’t let Adilyr stand alone kin! We got your back!” And Adilyr said again for an uncountable time now: “As I said, we have no interest in any meeting you may be having. We are here for our own purposes. “ Fiontann confirmed:“We are here to discuss about some matters that have come to our attention. So we should head to the building on the opposite side.” A very realistic man, it seems. Not so cold as he looks… “I believe that. If you insist and my folk want to stay we can then…”
One with a hood still kept her head into the shadows. “And we are not accustomed to pressing our nose into other folks' business.” And Fiontann: “We aren’t either”. I think we can take this side then.” In that meantime: Haolden, who seemed to be a little bit late entered now and Arstelle said relieved: “Haolden! Just in time. As you can see, we've come to some sort of agreement with these charming men!” The leaders of our groups used some words yet which were unnecessarily to spill. “So, as I said…We can take ‘this side’ here. And you folk can take ‘that’ side of the room. Who speaks for your company?” “I do…” said Fiontann.
I suddenly remembered that I forgot something yet. After looking tot his conversation, it seemed that I could not even attend what we had to talk about! So I, for an unapparent reason for the others, left the Mess Hall. What happened then, i do not know. The only I saw yet was that Adilyr glanced to the group before him…
