Ch.1: "After it ends, I start over again"

And here I am in front of my burning cabin. At least the screams from Doril inside have passed. He was a good teacher. He told me everything he knows about alchemy. But oh well … accidents happen. Did I forget the pot near the fire or he misplaced the powder, I am not sure. A lot of things are on my mind lately, I can’t think about that as well.  Poor old Doril, he will never finish that experiment of his. We met nearly two years ago, I had this old cabin near Bree  and he had a lot of ideas and in need of assistant. He always told me I was his best student… however it turned out that I have been his only one. He knew a lot about alchemy but his mind started playing tricks on him.

But enough about Doril and how we met. All I have now, burns in front of my eyes. With couple of silver coins in my pocket, I am making my way to Bree. At least there I hope to find work suitable for my skills and in no time I will be back on my feet, I am sure of it

So I went to Bree and then directly to the town hall looking for work. All the available jobs were gardener and crier. They must be joking.  I am not kneeling all day to dig holes in the ground and for nothing on the world I wouldn’t stand on a box shouting my back cheeks out for the fools to hear. I had to think of something and quick. I need to get some food and somewhere to sleep. The inn… with some luck I might as well find some decent work there.

I stepped inside the inn and found it empty. Only the tavern keeper and some couple giggling near the fire. I got a room and ordered a drink. I just got enough money for that. I was tired and went directly to my room after I finished with my drink. I had no idea what to do tomorrow. I could only hope not to end up on a box screaming. Maybe the tavern keeper was looking for a cook. I will ask him tomorrow. For now I just need a rest. As Doril always said the morning is wiser then the night.
