A Letter to Cousin Ivette

My dearest Cousin Ivette,

Mum has written to me all about that lad from Stock. If my heart feels like it is breaking, I cannot even guess how horrible you must be feeling right about now.

Please do not worry about returning all the things I sent for your trousseau. That is the last thing you need to be thinking about right now, and besides, my beautiful sweet girl, I know one day you will find a kind lad (preferably local) who sees you for the wise beauty you are, and I am sure that on that day you will be glad you kept the dress I made for you.

In the meanwhile, you must not think that this has anything to do with you. Some folks is just fickle, and this boy sounds like one of them. I am sorry he led you on like he did, and if I ever sees him I shall wallop him with my rolling pin (the one made of stone, too!)

I do wish you'd come and visit me for a while, because I really do think a change of scenery would do wonders for you right now. We all need a bit of a holiday at times and I think a few nights of good cheer would be a blessing for you.

With all my love & hopes,

Cousin Rosa
