Gaerion

Strange Companions

“Gaerion, now is not the time for this,”I said in warning.

Gaerion nodded that he had heard me, but replied to Estarfin, “Is the thought of Valinor beyond a simple Wood-elf? Of course not. But it is rare for those of the deep forest to be interested in what lies beyond the Great Sea. They made their choice.”

Danel is very disappointed with the manner in which Estarfin and Parnard treat her friend Gaerion. She does not hide her displeasure, though the main points of issue seem to be Gaerion is one of the Falmari, and he called Parnard an Avari. Sometimes misunderstandings take a while to work out.

Gaerion looked from Estarfin to Parnard and back again, his expression bright. Then he laughed softly.

An Old Friend

Danel introduces Gaerion, a very old friend of her family to Estarfin and Parnard. He has figured much in her life in the Second Age, being a guard, guide and encourager. Although he is a Teler from Alqualonde, she views him almost as an uncle. Estarfin and Parnard are less sure.

Story

It was late afternoon when Gaerion, Captain of the Uinenlindë, arrived at Numenstaya. An old friend of my family in Valinor, he had come to Endor with the Host of the Valar, Vanya, and Valinorian Noldor. Unlike the vast majority of his Teler kinsfolk, he had set foot on the shore, participated in the battles, and remained. He had been tasked to bring back certain folk, if they were alive, and so willed.

The Shield Isles

Onward, as silently as possible. No need to muffle the oars in such a heavy fog, they would not be heard. If the elves were using oars, as they occasionally did when the wind deserted them, they, too, went unheard.

The Hated Elf

Naraal doesn't much care for Elves. His most hated nemesis Is Gaerion of the Uinenlinde, the only opponent who has managed to place a scar on Naraal's face. Their ships have crossed each other a few times at sea, once with the silver haired elf taking off all of Naraal's slaves. There is a debt to be settled.

We have no report of Lady Carnifinde’s progress since Aearlinn returned to Tum Escal, seven days ago. That naught of importance had transpired between Forlond and Mithlond is not unexpected.

Arrival in Celondim

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

We are suitably accommodated in Celondim. Whether our stay will be but a few days, or far longer, is yet to be decided.

My lady wife has seen to all provisions for our party and speaks, with Aearlinn, on our behalf to those who have closest connection with the sailing of the Grey Ships from Mithlond.

Now it falls to me to decide, though I shall take counsel from Gaerion, and from the Lady’s granddaughter.
