The Way of the Sword

Tell me.  Do you know why it is that the sword, above all else, be celebrated as the weapon of the warrior?

 

The bow is better for striking down a foe at range, and the dagger if they be overly close.  The hammer is better for crushing mail and bone, and the axe for hewing limbs and striking with might.  The spear and the halberd and all such polearms are better for ranks of soldiery, and the fist be best of all for subduing an enemy without causing overmuch hurt.

 

Why, then, be the sword beloved beyond all?

Story

I do not know where to start. At the first glance Daegond might have been strange, crude and even mean to a person who did not know him, but he had more than meets the eye. Profound loyalty to those he protects. The reasons why he was behaving the way he did. A softer side which the Noldorin (or any) warrior tries so hard to hide under their shell of steel.

All I have in my mind are the scenes of meeting him.

Story
The Shire is a peaceful land, covered with rolling hills and sleepy meadows.
Where hobbits tend their land freely, and worry little about troubles out of the bounds.
But did you know that a brave and fearsome warrior once roamed these lands?
Not a big, butch, lankyshanks warrior, but a Hobbit warrior.
Small in body, but bold in heart.
He would roam the Shire looking for adventure wherever it was found.

Now, on this particular day, this brave warrior had got hold of a map.
