Present at the fall of Gondolin his wife perishing in the onslaught he was instructed by his superiors to escort, guard and protect the young (including his Son Earinlin). "at all costs lead them to safety from the dark horde" In this task he was diligent fearless and successful, his heart though still heavy from the distant sight of the burning white city and the many friends who perished there or by his side to fulfill his task and vow.

Residing now in Rivendell he spends his time recounting old stories and passing on wisdom to the young.. his heart still heavy from memories not faded, anger and frustration would take him on his darkest nights whence he would depart for many weeks. returning only when his blood had cooled.
