Outward Appearance

Theudo Furryfoot, Esquire is a thirty-eight year old hobbit of Harfoot ancestry. Theudo is, fittingly for a hobbit, fairly short and fat, with a round plump face, and a light brown skin complexion. Theudo's hair, which he keeps trimmed, neat, and always parted in the middle is brown and his eyes were also brown of colour, albeit a darker shade of brown than his hair and skin complexion are. Theudo's feet were exceptionally large and hairy, even by hobbit standards. A trait that many members of his family shared and took a great pride in. Theudo is fond of dressing in fancy, hobbit-made clothing made with only the finest (and most expesive) of dyes. Usually of Shire plum or Shire peach colours. However, due to his extra wide girth, Theudo often has to have his clothing custom made. Theudo speaks in an upper-class posh accent. (One might think of the Welsh actor, Terry Jones' performance as Mr. Toad from the 1996 film adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's "The Wind in the Willows", for an idea on how Theudo sounds vocally.) Theudo's demeanor is usally rather friendly, polite, good-humoured, and boisterous, but he is known to be a bit of an eccentric, impulsive, foolish, and quite pompous chap. Theudo loves to boast about his skills (although whether or not he actually possesses the skill he boasts about varies often), his properties, his possessions, his family name, and so on, so forth. Theudo seldom thinks before he speaks or acts, which has landed him in a bit of trouble a countless number of times. Theudo fancies himself as somewhat of a gentlehobbit adventurer, however, one would be pressed to find anyone in the Shire, or anywhere for that matter, who would describe him that way.

Background

Theudo Furryfoot, Esquire was born thirty-eight years ago on November 28th in the year 2981 to a wealthy, upper class hobbit family of Harfoot ancestry. Theudo’s parents, Esquire Giso and Honeysuckle Furryfoot were well-to-do and very respectable members of the Yondershire society and owned the grand estate, Furryfoot Hall, along with large amounts of farmland, which they would lease to tenant farmers. However, due to both of his parents being busy with their positions in society, Theudo’s parents had little time to spend with him and they would more or less leave the family butler, Fardinanth Fairworth III, to raise Theudo. Theudo was a friendly but boastful child growing up, who would often exaggerate his accomplishments to anyone who would listen to him, and due to this behavior, he had struggled to make friends. He did however, have one very close friend. His name was Ronol Burrweed. Ronol's father had been a friend of Theudo’s father, which is how the two became acquainted. Although the two boys did not always see eye to eye, they were close nonetheless.

Growing up Theudo and Ronol would listen to the stories that old Bilbo Baggins would tell at parties and the stories captivated his already very active imagination, much to the chagrin of his parents who were worried that Theudo’s overactive imagination would make others question their parenting skills and bring embarrassment upon their family. Theudo was also a bit of a mischief-maker as a child and he would often play pranks upon his family's servants, neighbors, and his friend Ronol. None of which, safe for Mr. Fairworth, appeared to be fond of his pranks. As Theudo grew older his father attempted to teach him how to farm the land as their ancestors had done for generations but Theudo found it all rather boring, much to the disappointment of his hard-working father. Theudo’s mother decided to teach him how to cook and how to knit, which he ended up absolutely adoring and being rather naturally gifted at the two activities. This led to some family drama between his parents. Theudo father believed that his son should focus on farming, considering that he is the sole heir to the influential farming family's name and vast farmlands throughout Yondershire and Theudo’s father was worried that the other well-to-do hobbits would judge him as a father if the information got out that Theudo did not know how to farm the land properly. Which led to strain on their marriage, which at this point in time had been building up for various reasons but Theudo was unaware of the other reasons and quietly blamed himself for his parents' relationship issues which affected him deeply.

On Theudo’s coming of age birthday, his parents threw an enormous party for him. Towards the end of the party his father gave a speech about Theudo and at the end of the speech he declared that Theudo will be helping him oversee and run the family's farmlands. Theudo feigned excitement to please his father but in fact he was terrified. After a few years of trying to run the family farms with his father, Theudo proved to be a lousy farmer and an even lousier overseer. His father had begun to get very cross with his consistent blunders and explode in anger at him, which led to Theudo seeking refuge and support from his mother, which in turn led to more fighting among his parents. Eventually, his parents decided to go on a vacation in order to try to strengthen their relationship. They left the farm in charge of Theudo and Theudo’s father's best friend, an older hobbit of Stoor ancestry by the name of Widradus. Sadly, tragedy would strike on Giso and Honeysuckle's vacation. While they were riding their horse drawn cart on their way through Bree, the pair had gotten into an accident on the road in which their caravan fell into a ditch. The crash ended up costing the lives of both Giso and Honeysuckle Furryfoot. Theudo was heartbroken over the news and he began to delve into more of a hedonistic lifestyle than before in order to distract himself from thinking and blaming himself for his parents' untimely deaths. Theudo was left with a vast fortune that his family had left behind, but Theudo spend much of the money very foolishly, chasing fad after fad, buying expensive clothing, throwing large parties, hiring workers to tend the farm for him, and hiring even more servants than he really needed and so on. Theudo also began to travel to distant lands, foolishly, by himself and then he'd return home with an unnecessary amount of souvenirs, along with exaggerated stories of his "adventures." Theudo became known for recklessly riding his caravan throughout town and causing property damage during his rides, which led to him being sued by various folks in the Shire. Theudo had been warned by the bounders that if he continued to cause them problems that they would be forced to have to give him jail time.

Over the years of his selfish and foolish lifestyle, Theudo began to drain his family fortune and at this point in time, he has started to sell off some of the Furryfeet family's land in order to keep his lifestyle up. Theudo had begun to sell some of his family's farmland to some shady men of Bree he had encountered during his travels. Theudo’s hectic life had gotten so out of order that his dear friend, Ronol, Ronol's cousin, Wylliwyn Surle, and his late father's best friend Widradus have been forced to step in and attempt to stop Theudo from his irresponsible behavior and from giving the folk of Yondershire a bad name, for they feared at the rate of his spending and being a public nuisance as Theudo had been being, he'd wind up bankrupt, in prison, or both, and the folk of the Shire and the folk from outside of the Shire would view the people of Yondershire in a negative light if they had an encounter with Theudo. Currently Theudo is struggling financially but he refuses to acknowledge it and he has opted to carry on spending money that he should not be spending like a madman and traveling to distant lands. Meanwhile, his friends, Ronol, Wylliwyn, his butler, Fairworth, and his family friend Widradus, have stepped in in order to put a stop to him damaging his family's reputation further. Only time will tell if they will be successful.
