Background

He is old. Very old, being a noldo of Valinor. He was one of Fëanor's commanders when the Noldor left Valinor, but, remembering the Kinslaying, after Dagor Bragollach he went to Gondolin. Filhindros lost his beloved sister when Gondolin fell, but escaped himself. This is  the most grievous memory he has. After reaching the Mouth of Sirion, he sailed to the isle of Balar, and stayed there until the end of the First Age.

After Morgoth had been defeated and Beleriand sunk, Filhindros, not wanting to abandon Middle-Earth yet, remained in Lindon in service of High King Gil-galad. When the war against Sauron begun he joined with Elrond's forces, ending up building the refuge of Imladris. When Sauron returned, he marched to Dagorlad and Mordor with Gil-Galad, witnessing the first fall of Sauron.

At the Third Age, his life has been somewhat peaceful. He took part in the war with Angmar, but not in any major size.
