Background
Loidirond was born in Imladris, or Rivendell, and was raised there by his parents to be the only heir to House Annungildir. Because of his responsibility, he became experienced with leading, or persuading people, and forging complicated plans. Still, he spent most of his young life studying the history, and people of Middle-Earth, especially searching for ancient knowledge. He could never go too far from Imladris, so the world outside of Rivendell only existed in books for him.
Because of this, he became very distrustful of mortals, and grew ever more protective of his own Race, until he came to believe that it were the mortals who - somehow - caused the downfall of the Elves. He decided to dedicate his life to find a way for Elves to stay in Middle-Earth without losing their immortality, and thought that the only way to do this is to study more about the ancient arts of Middle-Earth, including darker, and fouler things as well. His research was secret first, but it was later revealed by his own family who thought that their son turned to evil. They started mocking him, calling him an "Orc", and a disgrace to his House. Although Elrond insisted that Loidirond was simply foolish, and his motives were mostly harmless, due to the influence of House Annungildir, and other elves of Rivendell who viewed Loidirond as a threat, he decided to exile Loidirond, hoping that he would simply travel to the Undying Lands, and would be safe there. But Loidirond had no intentions to do so.
He started traveling around Middle-Earth, trying to continue his search for a way to keep the Elves from completely abandoning Middle-Earth. Through his travels, he learned that mortals were not the cause of the Passing of the Elves. He soon started to make contact with more, and more of them, and eventually made friends with a lot of mortals, that completely took away his hate for mortal races. His love for his people did not disappear though, and even though he was casted out from Imladris, and Eregion, he kept searching for the company of others from his Race.
After he met Erthera, the leader of the Fellowship of the Elm, he convinced the woman to aid him on his Quest for Immortality. After years of wandering, searching for ancient lore, and studying, Loidirond finally found an option. He read about a special, magical Ring that - along with other abilities - can grant it's wearer incredible powers, including immortality. He also found out that it was a small object, one that may have been a treasure of a great Hobbit adventurer, Bilbo Baggins. During his travels, he vantured into the Shire, and was happy to meet it's people, the race of Hobbits, as he grew found of their cheeriness, and their relaxing pipe-weed which helped him think through his ideas, and plans. Following trails from the Shire, he found out that the artifact travelled to Bree, and then to his home, Imladris.
After gaining Erthera's support, and finding more and more supporters, and friends in the area of Bree, he set out to find this immortality-granting artifact, and use it to save his kind from extinction. Loidirond's plans are clouded by mystery, as his happiness, and smiles often hide unknown intentions. Still, his honest love for his Race, and loyalty to his friends, and kin drive him forward to a path that may be both dark, and light. What he knows for sure is that he would do anything in his power to save his Race. Anything! And through this artifact, he will! It is precious to him.
