Janco has always lived in Oatbarton, where he worked on his parent's farm. It was hard work and there was not much time to get any other education then in farming and cooking. In the few spare hours that he had, Janco tried to teach himself the art of reading and writing in which he has succeeded marvelously. Being a gifted musician he was soon discovered by a local Oatbarton entertainer who taught him to play the clarinet and showed him the local repertoire of Oatbarton style dance music.

But when reaching adulthood the boundaries of Oatbarton started to feel like a restriction. He talked about this with his life-time friend Puki, who lived on her parents horsefarm a few fields further on. They decided to leave and see more of the world outside. In order not to lose each other in a crowd they agreed that when one shouted "BOGIES!", the other would reply "MORE!" and they set off on a road to adventure.

Janco and his friend lived off the land, hunting for hides and food. They finally settled in a waggon in Waymeet which was used as a base camp to explore the Shire. They started to perform their Oatbarton music to whoever wanted to hear it. The snappy tunes caught on with the Shire population and they decided to call themselves  the Jolly Jelly Jesters and move on beyond the Shire to see more of the world and to share their music with other people then just hobbits.

Janco loved this lose life of adventure and is usually very happy and likes to joke around a lot. He is constantly broke, but does not find that a problem at all. Only once he was so desperate that he needed to ask for money and he wrote to his distant uncle who's name he forgot, but it sounded something like "Uncle Bulbous". Like a miracle the letter still arrived at the intended destination. And "Uncle Bulbous" did sent some silver, but would later come back to the lad for a return favour..

He lost contact with Puki and settled more or less in Michel Delving. He rented a room and lodgings in Michel Delving and found a job cooking for the elderly who could not do that for themselves anymore.

His clarinet gathered dust for a long time, but recently Janco has been heard playing again.
