Background
Deorgast was born and grew up in the great city of Edoras. He lived a happy childhood there, surrounded by his many friends and his family. Deor grew up in a small house owned by his father, Edalgast. His mother and his older brother also lived there, living a good and hard-working life. Edalgast was one of the finest blacksmiths in Edoras. His father tried to pass his crafting abilities to Deorgast’s brother since he was but a young boy. His brother became quite good at it, and promised to be even better than his father at blacksmithing. Deorgast handled himself well enough on the forge and gained a lot of strength from working with his father, but he was never quite as good as his brother. His mind was always somewhere else, as he dreamt usually about the Rohhirrim soldiers.
Getting at his early tween ages, Deorgast started to spend more time training with the swords his father and brother did than training to become a better blacksmith. Edalgast did not approve his son behavior and his “time wasted”, as he would say. However, there was nothing to be done. Deorgast had put in his mind he would train to become just like the soldiers he used to observe in the city. Sometimes, Deor would even steal a horse and ride swiftly through the plains, in order to feel the wind on his face and start his own little “adventures”.
His will extended widely as he was growing up, up to the point it got unhealthy and dangerous. Deorgast’s will to become a soldier turned into frustration and anger, for he could not become one by his family patterns. He started to get involved in any sort of brawl he could find, and the sweet boy he once was turned into a marginal teenager which no one wanted to get involved with. His attitude gave a bad name to his family.
Finally, seeing that their decisions and the will to not let go were destroying their younger son, Deorgast’s parents decided to let their son pursue his dream of becoming a soldier of the Mark. In order to do so, they would have to send their loved son to a settlement in The Wold, were there was a training site for the recruits who wished to try their luck at becoming a Rohirrim soldier. And so they did.
Deorgast passed a long time in this settlement, learning every technique he could and enduring the hard training he and his comrades had to go through. Deorgast was one of the most loyal and hard-working pupils there, and for years he honed his skills as a soldier there. He was truly happy with the life he was living in The Wold, and so Deorgast’s smile appeared again on his face, and the sweet and nice boy he was once rose inside of him.
As he was turning twenty, Deorgast was finally assigned into a company, and he was officially titled a “Rohirrim Soldier”. His family finally accepted him by who he was, and were truly happy to have a son as willful as Deor.
For months, Deor lived a nomad life with his comrades, doing deeds and aiding the people all across the Westenment. However, one night, his encampment was raided and overwhelmed with Dunlendings who were pilling and murdering everyone they could find. These man killed some of Deor comrades, and took him and some others as prisioners to a settlement of theirs in Dunland.
Deor was stripped of his clothes and his belongings, and for months he was a prisoner and a slave to these men. He did hard labor work and was whipped many times, and was called nothing but “Strawhead”. However, his will was never broken by these man, no matter how much they would torture him.
In one fortunate night, two of the three Dunlendings who were guarding the cage were Deor was being kept were not present. Furthermore, the guard was not paying much attention to him, so Deorgast started to make a plan to escape. The cage was not sturdy enough to hold him, so Deor managed to break the bars of the cage with some tools he had hidden with him and he easily killed the guard. Deor found some of his old clothes and managed to escape the settlement, only being able to walk north.
For four months he traveled north with no destiny. He used to stop and stay some days in small villages or houses that would take him and give him some supplies. Without this, he would obviously not survive.
Eventually, Deorgast got to the populated town of Bree. For a long time he stayed there, working as a sellsword, learning and honing his skills with the many friends he made there.
After some time, Deor decided to hit the road again, travelling South with the intention to see his homeland and relatives again, as he heard war was closing inon those lands. Currently, he wanders, his location never known.
