Popski has always lived in Frogmorton, mainly because if he did go anywhere else he would probably not be able to find his way home again.

His favorite past time is hunting frogs and he usually has at least one in the large pocket of his tunic. This frog will be his favorite until he finds a better one or it escapes. Popski has had fifty two pet frogs in total and each one of them has been called "Fergus".

He is not a well educated Hobbit but does know his letters and numbers, he sometimes appears confused by certain tasks and is often distracted by mundane objects like logs, rocks, frogs........He once tried to be a Shepherd but went missing and was found three days later having been driven up a tree by the same sheep he was supposed to look after.

Getting simple tasks muddled means getting a job had become something of a problem but Popski then had the good fortune of being offered a position as "Gatekeeper" in the village of Brightdown. The job mainly entails looking after an inanimate object, so surely even Popski should be able to manage that?

Popski has managed to surprise most people (including himself) at actually excelling at his new role as Gatekeeper. He has not only managed to grasp the basic duties but actually improved on some. He has dusted off the old Gatekeepers log book and now keeps very formal records of any odd goings on. He also managed to set up a system of storing and returning lost property.
