Background
Halerwald was born in the Eastemnet of Rohan in 2984 TA. He lived in a small walled town, Wulfburg which his father, Eogelbrand, head of the House of Eogelwulf was the lord of. His father was lord of a lordship within the kingdom of the Riddermark called Wulffeld, which consisted of the town, two villages and some farmland. Halerwald learned to ride a horse at a young age. His training with weapons began shortly afterwards. He was brough up with the son of his father's closest retainer. The son's name was Baldthain and the two young men's fates were closely entwined.
He began to ride to war with the Rohirrim at the age of sixteen, serving mainly as a mounted archer and non-commisioned officer. His friend Baldthain served as his manservant. He served in many battles with the Dunlendings, brigands and other foes. He also served time dealing with criminals. He was wounded many times over the years, but luckily never too seriously, his worst wound the one which almost cost him his eye, the scar of which is still visible.
His closest friend was Baldthain, but was also close with his brother , Halerferth, born five years after him, they served in the same unit. His brother was quite a troublemaker, thieving and always getting into fights. In 3014 TA, when serving in the west of the country, his brother had an argument with a very senior officer when on patrol after a night of heavy drinking of ales. He felt that the officer had wronged him.
He acted drastically. The officer owned a stables in the local town. Halerwald's brother burnt it to the ground. Luckily, no horses were inside at the time, or else the officer would have been insane with rage. To be honest, he wasn't far off that as it was. The officer and a party of men guessed who had done it. They arrived at Halerwald and his brother's tent in the encampment on the outskirts of town. Halerwald had been told all about what happened by his brother.
He took the blame. He threw himself on the mercy of the officer. The officer dragged him before the nearest Nobleman. The Noble did not agree with the officer that the "criminal" should be put to death. He ordered him to leave Rohan and not to return, at least not for a long time.
Halerwald wandered for five years, before arrive in Breeland, he took work from various people on his travels. He stumble on the village of Fullbridge. A kind gentleman called Odvil greeted him and told him of the local watch's need for watchmen. Halerwald took him up on his offer and went down to the local Sherriff's office, where the sherriff soon recruited him.
And so Halerwald came to Fullbridge, to his new life. He has begun to establish friendships with many Fullbridge citizens and Bree-landers, many of whom know him as "Hal."
