Outward Appearance

Egellion Duvenacharn, a stalwart Man of Gondor, appears to be in direct conflict with the expectations held of him, as a stereotype of his nationality. Although some measure of the regal grace and interminable pride typically associated with his people remains, long journeys in lands troubled by interminable infestations of orc and other foul spawn have hardened him.

There is, least of all, no sense of ceremony or pomp in his bearing; he is a utilitarian in the truest sense of the word, and this is expressed in his every action. Greetings are curt and gestures are brief, and his style of fighting is similarly militaristic.

While he does strike one as a charismatic figure - and a handsome one - he lacks the refined comeliness of his kin. Rather, his is a more feral, raw and unadulterated charisma; skin baked in the sun as a result of hours of tireless marches to distant lands and hair toussled wildly by nature's designs (and left in that state perpetually) both spring to an onlooker's attention. His eyes - endless azure pools that they are - are brimming with an odd mixture of ferocity and mirth, a quality of his which could be considered unsettling, especially given his propensity for making eye contact with any who address him.

His equipment, however, shows no sign of wear and tear; every last bit of it is in impeccable condition, and it would not be a seldom sight to see him attending to it with meticulous care. A whetstone is never kept too far away from his weaponry, nor polish from his armour.

Background

Egellion Dúvenacharn, the last son of a long line of Men who settled the lands of Ithilien (now overrun by Mordor's armies out of Minas Morgul), is perpetually troubled by the expectations set upon him by his heritage. It is little surprise that he has long served as a proud Ranger of Ithilien; in doing so, he has become renowned enough among his peers (and infamous enough among the Enemy) to claim the rank of Captain, holding command over a regiment of rangers.

However, as his father - and his father's father, and so on - all fell while defending their ancestral home, Egellion was plagued by doubts and worries that should he himself fall, his line would fail. As doing such a disservice to the selfless sacrifice of his ancestors seemed abhorrent, Egellion entrusted his regiment to another capable Captain and began his journey to foreign lands, to learn what he may and seek out a solution to his predicament. Since, he has journeyed far, across many parts of Rhovanion and Eriador, and now spends much of his time in Bree and the lands north of there, where he has given part of his time to aiding the Free Peoples against the threat out of Angmar.

While he appears to be a jovial character to most, any who would take the time to get to know the man more closely would identify a sense of burden which weighs heavily upon his shoulders at all times; however, whatever this is also seems to drive him forward, perpetually motivating him to do better in every discipline he adopts. This inspirited demeanour could be considered an endearing trait, if only for the conviction and resolve it endows him with.
