Diary
I have made it to the largest camp in this region. It is as big as a small town. The locals let me enter the largest tent to eat, rest and sleep. I am grateful to be finally out of the cold.
I paid the usual customary greetings to the locals leader. They seem to be satisfied with my attempts to comply with their customs.
I had to leave my raven companion in the care of the healers in a camp two days ride from here. She was wounded too badly on our last outing to make a quick recovery. My limited healing was not enough to give her comfort. The healers there say she will recover. I shall return to her when they send word to me.
I have not named her, my raven. I feel guilty for that now. I never thought it necessary before. She has always been the loyalist of my companions.
Yesterday, I met a white bear. He has been following me since. Until now, never got on well with bears. My last bear companion was too unruly and unreliable. But, this bear is different. He listens to my speech and heeds my word. He is strong and hale. Maybe he will make a good companion. Maybe I should give him a name.
