Some more Poems about Food

Cakes

So let's have a cake
It's nice freshly baked
A slice you should take
And then eat till you ache!

Arranged very neat
The cakes are so sweet
You can't help but eat
Mind those crumbs at your feet!

A feast for the eyes
These cakes can surprise
Just listen for sighs
They're as tasty as pies!

So fluffy and light
A taste that delights
Do take a few bites
All eat cake day and night

Have friends round for tea
With cake, you will see
How good it will be
In such fine company

When covered in cream
The taste is supreme
The cake, truly seems
Its like eating a dream

So lets have a cake
Just like your Ma makes
All eat up that cake
For your belly's own sake!

Biscuits

Now the pantry is bare
There's no biscuits in there
And so gently you sob
And then turn and despair
You would bake some this hour
But you've run out of flour
And there's worse when you find
All your butter's gone sour

Now your belly feels slack
You're in need of a snack
And a biscuit or two
Will stop hunger's attack
How you'd savour the smell
Of some biscuits baked well
Will you find any food?
You just give out a yell

You want honey and oats
In a chocolatey coat
You imagine the taste
At the back of your throat
Or with nuts or with fruit
Such a biscuit would suit
But your throat is so dry
Like a worn out old flute

As you think of those treats
All those sugary sweets
How the thought makes you sweat
From your head to your feet
But you don't have to wait
You see friends at your gates
And they're carrying gifts
They have biscuits on plates!

So you shouldn't despair
When your pantry is bare
You can turn to your friends
Who are happy to share
For it's true in the end
They are happy to lend
And those biscuits are best
When they're shared with your Friends
