Ode to the Bullroarer

Ode to the Bullroarer

Bullroarer Took could a horse sit astride

And when on the Greenfields he Golfimbul spied,

With his yew club so stout, the Took gave such a clout,

That he Golfimbul's head from his trunk did divide.

The army of goblins watched with slackened jaw

As the head o'er them flew in a shower of gore

The hobbits all shouted: 'Golfimbul's knockouted!

The Bullroarer's evened the score!'

For a whole hundred yards did Golfimbul's head fly;

And the Bullroarer raised a victorious cry!

The Took was contented, for Golf he'd invented,

when the head down a burrow the 'Roarer did spy!
