Background

It was a dark night, most people stayed at home. Rough men, looking almost Ork-like to those who knew those vile creatures, were coming from the south these days and people dared not to stray at night. But this night was darker, like something blocked the light of moon and stars and put a fear in the hearts of the citizens of Bree. Rumors, about Black Riders, had been spreading all day. They were told to be so terrifying that even the bravest warrior would cower from fear in their presence and the horses could breathe fire like dragons of old. It was that night that a man walked into the Inn of the Prancing Pony, just when a heated discussion about the abilities of those Black Riders was going on. The man, once a respected Captain of Gondor, was accompanied by a lady and they looked distressed. They had barely escaped an encounter with a Black Rider, even though the man was a trained warrior. The lady introduced the man to a tough looking group, sitting in a corner of the common room. He had been sent on a mission here, after he’d fallen into disgrace in his homeland. ‘You must look to the north’ the old man in Gondor had told him, ‘My own son I have already send forth a few days ago, on the same mission as you, to find friends and lead an alliance of races against Mordor’. That night, in a corner of the Inn of the Prancing Pony, miles from their homeland the two captains met each other and had a long conversation, joined by a brave guardian and the lady from Rohan, a hunter from Dale, a mysterious man from Gondor and a strange hobbit. There The Western Alliance was forged, to protect the lands of Eriador against the shadows from Angmar and Mordor and soon more swordsmen, farmers, hunters and smiths gathered around their banner. As the Alliance grew, the need for a proper leadership arose. This leadership nowadays is in the hands of a council consisting of the leader, his deputy and five officers, with each their own responsibilities. For serious issues the council convenes and decides by vote on the matter at hand. As any captain knows, to properly lead soldiers into battle you need to earn their respect. To make sure the leaders have earned that respect, the members of the council are elected by the members of the Alliance for a period of 4 months. In the years of its existence the forces of The Western Alliance have grown to roughly 40 men, hobbits, elves and even dwarfs. Brave warriors, cheery hobbits, hard-working craftsmen, all have found a home and a way to fight evil within our ranks!

The Western Alliance The Western Alliance was created on the game's launch day and survived to this day. We consist of a mature membergroup, with members ranging from 16-60 years old. We aim to support our members in the whole range of content available in the game, from RP and crafting to end-game raiding. We are small enough to know eachother and have the numbers, and enough friends around the server, to be able to do content of any group-size. Want to know more about us?
