Faethuil meets The Hand of Numenor
Faethuil meets his mother, Forngarmo along with Belenir, Thandanar and Aelwynna from Hand of Numenor Order.
Faethuil was watching a small gathering up at the campsite when he had returned to Evendim. He did not recognize any of those present, apart of his mother, who stood out in the crowd regardless of her face not being visible. He would recognize her anywhere. Young ranger has promised her not to disturb in internal matters but he could not stay away when possibly his mother's injury was mentioned.
- Injury? - He asked politely, disturbing the gathering against his mother's wishes. They seemed too busy with themselves to notice him at first, so first one to speak was none of them but another of Faethuil's kindred.
- Hail kin... - The ranger greeted him and Faethuil bowed his head as a greeting only to meet his mother's stern gaze.
- What did I tell you countless times about disturbing? - She asked with a calm tone regardless. He felt that she wasn't pleased with him and glanced at Forngarmo with an apologetic look. He apologized to the gathering and soon was introduced to those present. Among him and his mother there were also the ranger Saeradir of the Dunedain, Thandanar of Gondor, Belenir the Captain of the Order and their healer Aelwynna. They all seemed fatigued, hurt and tired. Faethuil had no idea what happened and neither of them told him if his mother was indeed injured. She seemed to look good regardless so he left the matter alone. He then got to know them a bit better and learned of their Rantost Skirmish. When the night has fallen, he did go to rest among them.
When he woke up, they were nowhere to be seen. He followed the trail of his mother along with his sister who left after him. That, has led him to Ost Forod in the Northern Reaches of Evendim, near to where his mother was born. Though, it did not help him as the only thing he learned was that his mother was missing. Only thing he knew was that Seradir might have seen her going towards Forochel but Faethuil did not follow that trail. He was calmed down by Thandanar of Gondor and reassured that the Forngarmo can handle herself alone. All of them, then returned to Tinnudir.
A few days later he managed to see his family's old friend in his Grey Company garb returning to Tinnudir. He was really happy to be reunited with his sister and his friend, Arvedain. They caught up on the stories and on what happened since he left for the war among his mother and when another task had to be done, the two young rangers sparred for the opportunity. Sadly, Faethuil did lose that spar with his sister, Fornelen which caused him to stay behind with Arvedain and the investigation. As more people tended to visit the campsite, he had met another of his kindred named Anarlosse, as well as a Lossoth woman named Loja. He did also encounter Aelwynna and Thandanar of the Order again. That was the last moment of his inner peace as it was soon disturbed by a message hawk and that was when he learned from Aelwynna, that his mother decided to venture alone into enemy lairs in Forochel. He was shaken and not thinking clearly. He prepared everything he had and left Tinnudir in hurry. He did not manage to go far anyway as soon, he was disturbed by two others that rode off to find him.
- I know you know what's written upon this parchment. You're making a mistake if you go to seek your mother out against her wishes. - Thandanar then spoke towards Faethuil. The ranger was still shaken from the news.
- I cannot let her die that way. - He then answered towards the Gondorian.
- Your mother is an experienced fighter. Yoursister said so herself. I am confident she can handle herself. What is this... mission she speaks of? - Thandanar then asked after answering him.
- She is an exceptional fighter indeed. But that place... it is crawling with enemies. She cannot handle an possible army alone... This place... it is a Dunedain hideout of old. - Faethuil sighed as he answered. Thandanar seemed intrigued by it. The three, together with Aelwynna spent a while talking about the place and about what transpired. Then, they managed to convince Faethuil to turn back and so they did. They seemed different from what Fornelen was thinking as they seemed to care, regardless. Anyway, Faethuil seemed overwhelmed by the news and decided to lay down after talking with others.
Everything seemed calm for days, until Forngarmo's horse came back home.... riderless...
He yelled to the heavens, being certain that she had perished at that moment. But he did promise to stay. And so he did....
