To Quartermaster Golvagor, On Some Supply Needs

Only the last word in the signature line was, for obscure reasons, emphasized in red ink.

Dear Quartermaster Golvagor:

I am writing to request some supplies in the event that hir Tolmen should become a guest at the Houses of Healing.

For his particular injuries, I am prescribing a diet composed entirely of seafood, for fish is rich in nutrients and even the bones can easily be boiled to softness, if salmon is to be found. Telpenaro and I frequently share recipes for this type of food, so I am asking him to write you separately about herbs and spices for the recipes. But he shall have fish, fish, fish, fish, fish-oil, and fish-broth. Not the eight-arms of the deep sea, nor the smooth-skinned dolphins! No, those can think and reason as the Quendi do, and must not be slain. Also, not even Lord Anglachelm would dare call for oysters in late spring and early summer -- they are not wholesome at this season. Telpenaro and I can obtain some fresh-water fish ourselves, but if sea-fishes are available through your connections, so much the better. The oil of the flesh is a splendid nutrient, which helped me grow strong as an Elfling. Tolmen, whatever his flaws, deserves nothing less.

As well, I wonder if you can help with obtaining some seaweed, not only to be given to our guest instead of bread and the like, but to lay across some injuries of his as a moist bandage. Again, my young kinsman Meluilindelë will help ensure that Tolmen is treated properly and thoroughly. A waggon-load would not be too much, if you can get it (perhaps through Elvealin's parents in Lindon). I also have a swan to feed, of course.

Many thanks in advance for your attention to my humble request.

Long live the Hammer,

Manadhlaer of Alqualondë
