What is Tham Angol?
A Place for Knowledge, Inquiry, Craft, Study, and Fellowship
Tham Angol [S. — Hall of Lore] is a library and craft hall in the quiet of Imlad Gelair, Rivendell. It is located in a stone hall built as a place of gathering and workshop for the Master Jewelsmiths of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain to continue their work after fleeing the War in Eregion. It contains the archive of all the knowledge the Mirdain could save from their once-great libraries. But the welcoming, almost-playful-feeling Hall of Lore contains further materials: Their collections are broad and curious visitors are welcome, and the setting in Imlad Gelair is truly magical.
It was once a craft hall used daily by the Noldor of Eregion who lived as refugees, and still welcomes those who wish to work as they did, with their community. There is a maintained and functional jewelsmithing workshop and the necessary places to craft for any profession. It is traditional to communally work, and this is a concept we have embraced in offering again our space for craft, community, study, as well as quiet reflection and inquiry.
Upstairs there is a small classrom where the Tham Angol Writers Circle meets and where visiting and local experts on subjects they wish to share may give lectures.
How to Visit Tham Angol
3 Cape Rd, Mírband, Belfalas Homesteads
ICly, Tham Angol is in Imlad Gelair in Rivendell, and ICly is a short walk from the Last Homely House -- your character will not require travel or lodging if they are already in Rivendell. OOCly, the building is located in the Belfalas Homesteads, accessible by any level player from the homesteads or housing brokers.
The Easiest Way to Get To Tham Angol:
From inside any of the homesteads (Eriador, Rohan and Belfalas), visit the Far Ranging Stablemaster, choose “Belfalas Homesteads” and enter the gateway, choosing *Mírband* and then travel all the way south.along the seaside. It is the house to the east of the Lighthouse, and it is located above the letters "don" in "Narvindon" on the above map.
Housing Broker Shortcut:
- Visit one of the Belfalas Housing Brokers (one is at the Boar Fountain in Bree, one is near the stables in Dol Amroth, and I do not know where others are.)
- Choose “Buy a House”
- Choose the “Mírband” neighborhood
- Select 4 Cape Road
- Click Tour House to be teleported to the neighboring property
- Go south to 3 Cape Road — it is listed as The House of Silwë.
