The dreams that scar

She sat alone with nothing in sight but darkness. Kim couldn’t move, couldn’t talk, she couldn’t do anything.

“You told me how terrible I was for leaving you and you left with no warning.”Edwin appeared right in front of her and said those words and before he disappeared he said one last thing.”Abandoned”

Egfor then appeared in front of her.”You left me and you lost my trust.” He shook his head. ”Broken trust.”

He disappeared and Cedmon appeared.”You said you would never leave my side and when you left I died.” He started to slowly fade away.”Forgotten.”

Once he was gone Kim’s captain appeared in front of her.”It was you that should have died out there. You sent those men to their graves.” He spit at her feet.”Betrayal.”

The troops she sent out appeared, many with no heads. “You sent us out to our deaths. You left many people without the people they loved.” They all bowed their heads.”Left behind.”

Her parents appeared standing next to each other.”When you left to become a ranger you thought it was an honorable line of work and now, look who is dead because of it.” They looked at each other and said,”Mistakes.”

Baylen appeared with scars all over his body.”Kimbell, I asked you to marry me and without an answer you left with the promise of returning with an answer. You didn’t return fast enough.” His eyes lost all color.”Unanswered.” He faded away to nothing.

Davrynn appeared next. His eyes full of fear and hatred. He said nothing as he did when he didn’t trust her. As he started to disappear a single word came from his mouth.”Liar.”

She thought that it was over but she was still frozen. Kim stood frozen for what seemed like hours before one last figure came from behind her and she was unfrozen. She quickly turned around and it was Catalinna. Cat started circling around her and then everyone else appeared in a circle around Kim. Cat circled around Kim a few times before saying anything.”See all these people? You left them. You broke your promises, betrayed their trust, and didn’t even say goodbye. Tisk tisk, honor sister, I thought you were better than that.” She pulled out the Cat pendant that Kim gave to her.”See this? This held up better than you did. Now look at you. You are a sad, lonely drunk.” She stopped circling and just as she did all the others started speaking at once. “Abandoned.” “Broken trust.” “Forgotten.” “Betrayal.” “Left behind.” “Mistakes.” “Unanswered.” “Liar.”

She could finally scream out and as she did they all disappeared. She was alone in the darkness again.”Unforgivable.” She heard Cat say, though she was nowhere to be found. Right after that Kim woke up in the middle of the woods. she had passed out the night before. She looked to her side and there was the flask Cat gave her. She took the last swig that was in it and looked up to the sky and murmured to herself.”Ashamed.”
