Baylen son of Gundar, son of Malach, son of Borom was born a lord of Ithilien. He spent his childhood instructed in the history and the art of warcraft. 

Baylen is given the nickname 'the Arnen', as in Emyn Arnen the mountain, for his solidly built body. He stands over six feet. His cold, piercing blue eyes seem to see through people.

He has some skill with horses, due to having some Rohirric ancestry. He grew taller than the average Gondorian due to his Dunedain and Half-Elf ancestry. At 16, he joined a military academy at Minas Tirith.  He then joined the ranks of Rangers of Ithilien, as a captain.  The Rangers guarded the kingdom's borders against bandits and orc. During this time he became an accomplished warrior and respected knight. He was often too passionate and brash, having difficulty sticking to the letter of the law when needing to get something done, especially when fighting orcs. This cost him his position within the Rangers.  Leaving the Rangers and Gondor Baylen struck out into the world in search of himself.
