Third Age Diary: Peace in Imladris

Back in Imladris, things are much more peaceful. We found, but then lost the nazgul in the wilds. It seems this task is doomed for naught but failure. But I will not dwell on that for now. I will rest here in the peace of the valley until duty calls once more, though I wish for a longer rest.

After I arrived back in the valley, I made myself look presentable before reporting to Hir Elrond. I am sure there will be more to do soon, but I will make well of the time I have to spend in the valley. I visited the libraries and mindlessly picked out a book to read.

I should have been more careful in my choosing, or chosen a happier tale. The book I found myself with was an account of the fall of Gondolin, of my home. It's been so long since the fall, but it still pains me to hear people speak of it. Reading about it was a whole other matter and I fear I shall have nightmares this night.

I was reading my book in the Hall of Fire earlier, when the lady Runa happened upon me. It was lovely to see her again and she was a welcome distraction from my reading. We spoke long about many topics and I enjoyed the conversation. I do suppose we shall meet again at some point. I look forward to her company once more.
