Things have been odd. Bailey brought me a toad this morning, though what with all the rain we've been having I'm not all that surprised. At least it were dead, I don't like the things, they be unpredictable the way they jump, also the way they stare at you? No thank you. How she managed to get it in her mouth though I don't know, the thing be almost the size of her! It's still in the corner. I'm going to see if someone will take it out for me, Jack maybe, Ath if he comes by again. I don't want to touch it.
Met a lass in the inn, Mae. Blimming cheeky woman were looking at me as if I were a bag of potatoes at the market, when I pulled her up about it, she said she saw nothing interesting. The nerve of the lass, I mean, aye, I were in me work clothes, still had clay up me arms, but I didn't let the words get to me, rather, we got to talking and it were a nice conversation too. She be a bit troubled I think on account of whats been going on in her life recently and how she be coping with it all, rather what she's been using to cope with it. I wished her luck. Hopefully I'll be seeing her around again, it makes a change talking to a lass.
So, there I were, chatting away to Ath who were filling his face with supper and his mind with a book. Strange, I never would have thought he be the type to read such a thing, a romance? Still it ain't exactly like those we get here in town, something about the first men and elves. Bal joined us after a bit, though I think he were disheartened by the lack of appreciation for his music. I really don't understand, I mean, who wouldn't want the sound of a dozen cats fighting ringing in their ears? I tease, but, he be lovely. I had to leave the pair of them, I had work today but Ath followed me out, we got to mucking about, a game to see who could make the other blush, and of course he won! I mean the lad has about sixty more years practice at these things than I!
He offered me a ride home, and I have to say, that horse be one of the prettiest I have ever seen. We didn't go home though, well, not to mine. He wanted to drop off things at his house as it were on the way and it were an eye opener I'll tell you that. Books and maps everywhere, on the walls, floor, tables, everywhere. He were happy to answer me questions, encouraged me to look at things, let me just natter on about where I haven't been and where I hope to go. It were a very, very interesting evening, especially when he showed me specific books and drawings, them being about folk he knew, including meself! I'm still not certain what to make of all that, I think he knew I found it strange and all, but, I've known plenty of odd folk, everyone has their little something I suppose. I stayed with him all night, and were almost late for work because of it, blimming Flo would have killed me if I were late again, but it were worth it, as I said, a very interesting night.
He came by after work to see me. I gave him a drink. He were off hunting again, and I cant help but feel sorry for the deer he were out to get. He said I am beautiful. I need to get me head out of the clouds, I still have that dress to finish, I'll be off dancing before I know it. Hopefully the bruises will be gone proper by then though, I don't think they really do much good for me appearance.
