Brother's Goodbye
The Meadhouse was buzzing with life and celebration. “Busy as a beehive.” Andri had commented earlier. The skies were clear and gave way for the star’s brilliance; meanwhile the breeze blew coldly from West over the mountains. Outside stood the two young men, red in their face from the fire and the strong mead, thankful for the breeze. It was quiet as they took in the ambience. Nobody inside could understand the difficulties the two had faced. Only the pair knew their struggles, but through the hardships, without knowing it, a brotherhood was forged.
Andri felt his chest tighten and his eyes burn. He had come to look up to Askelin like an elder brother, but now he was leaving, and Andri could not go with. Nevertheless, he had a plan for his life now. The man had cared for him, despite Andri’s ill moods and abuse, and was stern but never unkind. He was an inspiration.
“You know, I hated your guts when I first met you, but I suppose you’ve grown on me a little.” “Water under the bridge.”
