The wax seal on the outer letter bears the image of a pillar, like that once displayed in Gondolin. The Tengwar on the letter are precise, needing to communicate their message, yet artful and really quite attractive to read. This letter is bound to a thick packet of others, each one a business letter of some sort -- yet while their purpose is utilitarian, and these too are highly readable, the calligraphy is simultaneously so beautiful that one would think the writer had copied out poems for framing on one's wall as artwork.
My dear Lady Gilinnen,
Lady Manadhlaer, your friend and the leader of my Order, described to me the sorts of business letters you would need in order to make inquiries about workers to reopen your family home at Lindon.
Enclosed please find a package of samples of each one for your approval. If anything is not correct or not to your satisfaction, please inform me at once and I shall make the necessary corrections, which you will have in your hand practically as soon as the ink has dried. These are samples, of course, so if you merely wish a more attractive lettering style, I can do that quickly and gladly as well.
I often go by my father-name, Sarmëtecil, for simplicity's sake. Yet if you prefer Sindarin, as many do in this age, I am also pleased to be addressed as Teithril. It is entirely your preference.
I shall be glad to make your acquaintance, híril, for your daughter Elvealin is known far and wide as an expert healer but also a harper and singer who could make the statues of Luthien Tinúviel in the Vale dance right off their pedestals. I know that the Lady of the Pillar much relies on your daughter. If I can play any small part in assisting you while the Lady of the Harp is away, I shall do it freely and with delight, for the mother of such an accomplished elleth must herself be a boon to the Eldar.
Let me know either by post-bird or by naming a time and place that I may wait upon you, and I will make any corrections you deem necessary to the enclosed.
Yours faithfully,
Sarmëtecil "Teithril"
Chief Scribe
Order of the Pillar
