FIGHTING CONTEST RULES ((OOC))
This is an Rp Fighting contest event, with additional activities surrounding it. (Stalls, Acts, Shows, etc.)
With deep respects to our Elven Roleplayers; no Elves would be accepted into the contest of combat; due to the locals being distrustful of anyone who has had a few hundreds years to train compared to their few decades or less. Though you are more than welcomed to partake in the shows, attractions and gambling, if Elves do such things; recently, the locals have warmed up to Hobbits what with their close boarders, and decided they will not mind if a young Hobbit wishes to partake and prove themselves!
Each fight will consist of Eight emotes per combatant; Sixteen in total per pair in a round; at the Sixteenth; the Referee will end the fight; and if no blood has been drawn upon either combatant; the crowd will decide the victor with way of cheers and jeers!
The two combatants will fellowship with the referee and usually a single roll will be done at the fights beginning to conceive the winner; however if both combatants wish, they can free-emote it to the finish within their emoted limit.
All participants will be considered equal (apart from a small alteration to be listed below) there will be no modification to the rolls done; unless of course, both parties are known to one another; and wish it to be so; (two friends knowing which of their character's is more skilled or etc.) Because it is important to remember; a fight can be lost for many reasons; shoddy gear, a mistake made in the heat of contest, simple bad luck you can be outsmarted, tricked, or even paid off on the side to throw the bout! - The fighter isn't the one who wins always, but the one who loves to fight!
All contests are done to first blood, or until a knock out occurs; all armour and weapons are allowed; in melee standards. Or the pair can decide at the beginning IC to brawl it out with fists alone; (separate terms of victory can be decided in the fellowship by both players; such as surrender or serious injury, etc. at the time.)
Please kindly consider well the Character you enlist in to the contests; female Character's and Hobbits will be considered but only should they have combat experience - simply trying it for fun, will likely end painfully, which of course, no one wants over all. Due to also the nature of the location of the event's placement, and the times; Female Character's and Hobbits will be given a -20 Roll parameter if they combat a Male Character (Due to strength and size difference.)
For the duration of the event the area of the Arena and the settlement of Ost Forod are considered guarded. Please do not disturb the fights during the contest or make hassle to the stalls or shows. Outside the area of Ost Forod participants might do as they like.
Visitors are expected to enter the Arena from the south gate. Contestants, healers and the referee will enter from the lower east gate. (please don't jump in to the arena from above, though it looks cool, the fall would likely kill a man.)
The winning prizes will be in-game gold (1st Place 30 Gold, 2nd Place 15 Gold.) - ICly this will be; Two Gold pieces, for first place, and One Gold Coin for second.
People may bet on the winner of each fight. Bets won't be in in-game gold. You can bet on the fighter you wish with the Betting manager before the fight begins and after the names of the contesting pair are announced. Once all bets are taken, the fight will begin. No bets allowed after the fight has begun will be counted.
----------
Ost Forod is a lvl 30+ area. If you need your alt to be escorted to Ost Forod OOCly give us a few days notice (send game mail or /tell) to help you out and upon the day we'll escort those who need it.
The people who plan to take part as referees or contestants, healers are requested to contact Draumer or Grurmer OOCly, through in-game mail or LA mail (Upon Zalspahro for LA Mail please.) or /tell before the beginning of the event (Jun 20) so the pairs of contestants will be arranged.
The fights will take place at the Ost Forod Arena (7.0 S, 63,8 W) after 8.00 UK time. The event might be prolonged or the starting time might change if there are too many fighters. But this will be the 'norm.
For the fellow Referees
1. The referee gets in fellowship with the pair of contestants (out of character)
2. The referee asks the contesters if they wish for a variation of a fight ( a brawl, a fight to death or a fight with modified rolls). Both contestants should agree to have a variation of a fight. (out of character). Otherwise the referee will apply the rules described above.
3. The referee enters the arena with the contestants (in character)
4. The referee /shouts at the audience if there are any bets. The bets are placed. (in character, optional)
5. The referee asks the contestants if they are ready (in character)
6. The referee asks the contestants to /roll (out of character) twice. The first roll determines who plays first. The second roll determines who wins the fight.
7. The referee stands aside and watches the fight. If there is any severe injury during it the referee can ask the injured contestant if he wants to yield. (in character)
8. The referee ends the fight (after 8 emotes for each contestant maximum) and announces the winner. The referee asks if any of the contestants require a healer. (in character)
-* Medical Staff are then called in, while the next pairing head down to the arena gate to prepare, a show or attraction is called down to entertain and bets are paid out, or stored before the next round begins.
Thank you all!
