Ash attempted to get a better look at the face of whoever stood above her. The hand was gloved, but she could feel it was not a man's hand. Her mind raced to form some sort of plan. Her knife was within reach...but her hand was near her own face. She formed the plan in her brain, hesitating only a moment before swinging her fist as quickly as she could. Her fist connected with the woman's chin and she crashed to the ground. Ash sat up quickly and drew her knife, crouching down and holding it to the woman's neck. The woman began to laugh quietly and rub her jaw. She whispered, "It's me, ya dumb cow!" Anger built up and Ash almost shouted, but remembered the others staying at the inn. She settled for a harsh whisper. "Carria! Stop laughing, this is not amusing in any manner!" She sheathed her knife and plopped down on the bed again. Carria settled down, but continued to chuckle here and there. Ash lit the candle once more and saw her sister better. She didn't look amazing, but Ash knew better than to ask. Carria also studied her sister, her laughter now gone as she stared at her curiously. "Ya really are scared, aren't ya?" Ash didn't want to admit it, but she nodded slowly and sighed. Carria sat next to her and embraced her tightly. She returned the hug, not sure if it was for her own comfort or her sister's that they were hugging. Carria stood after a moment. "Meet me right outside o' the Bree gate in th' morning. I got stuff to tell you." Ash opened her mouth to beg her sister to stay, but Carria had already left. The door locked quietly after she closed it. Ash wished she had brought a book to write in, but she hadn't thought she would be staying away from home. She shivered and hugged herself, continuing to sit on the bed. She would not be getting any more sleep. Once again, she was alone.
