Background

The tragic dissolution of the Company of Esgaroth at the hands of the Angmarim in TA 2947 left the members of the expeditionary trade-company scattered throughout Eriador.  Many settled along the Bay of Forochel and surrounding regions.  Progeny of the the former company maintained their interest in craft and trade.  Thus, the Northern Company was formed under the leadership of Tyrin Erikson in TA 2972: the second generation of those who came from the Dale-lands.

Skilled prospectors and craftsmen, those serving in the Northern Company have maintained their keen interest in trade and developing trade routes throughout Middle-earth.  Due to the harsh climate of the north, they are hardy folk with a strong sense of community as the frigid environment requires.

Many prospecting and gathering expeditions take place beyond the northern borders into Forodwaith: a land riddled with great treasure but also great challenge, both in weather and foe.  Generally favoring small expeditionary forces as to not draw attention from threats unknown to those in the south, each member is required to be well-trained in combat and small group tactics.

Over time it became necessary to develop a guard to those on craft and trade expedition.  In TA 3007 under the direction of the newly appointed lord commander, Drengar Tyrinson, the rapidly growing company was restructured into three divisions: the Gaderian (prospectors/gatherers and crafters), the Wardian (guards and armed escorts), and the Formaelen (traders and businessmen).  Members of the company are encouraged to develop competency required in all areas though a focused skill-set and division-designation is necessary for the purposes of effectiveness in training and expedition.

Currently in the third generation, Drengar Tyrinson serves as lord commander of the company and is the de facto leader of the Wardian.

OOC INFO

We are a light-RP kinship.  Role-playing is driven by our story and structure.  While some of our members engage in regular RP with the wider community, most of our interactions on a day-to-day basis are OOC.  We respect and welcome any and all degrees of RP.

We are a solo, duo, and small fellowship gamer type kinship.  We proudly carry our name and share a story.  While we engage skirmishes/raids/instances, they are not our focus.  We don't recruit on a regular basis as to expand into a mega-kinship.  Many within are IRL friends, colleagues, and family.  We are small yet close-knit.  While we are happy to welcome all into our LOTRO family, there are many youth present so we ask that interactions be respectful and age-appropriate.  Knock yourself out in an adult fellowship but while in our kinship chat or large events, we require a family-friendly environment.
