Agromnir’s eyes slowly opened and after a slow moment he remembered it all. The reason why he was on the bed. The terror he had felt, that was now gone. It felt like forever ago. An expression of relief crossed his face. It was really, truly gone. And much of his strength was back. Or was it just temporary? Could it come back? The watchman grimaced slightly and then after a few moments he sat himself up and took a glance around. He found the elf sitting in a nearby chair with his eyes closed peacefully, breathing like he was asleep. Then Agro looked down towards the floor and rubbed his eyes.
“Awake now, are you?” The elf’s voice came suddenly with his eyes still closed.
Agromnir looked quickly back at him, “…Indeed,” he said.
Edhelfaron revealed his light blue eyes, “Good,” he paused and took a long breath. “Now, about this… stone.. and the barrow downs.” He said evenly.
“Of course,” said Agromnir, “but first...I must thank you for helping me. I don’t know how you did it, but I am truly grateful to be in my right mind again. I don’t know what I would have done if it just continued to get worse. And I am quite lucky that you came when you did.”
“Any friend of Calagand is a friend and ally of mine,” said Edhelfaron with a small, kind smile. “Indeed, the will of the darkness that was inside you was strong. I had to rest myself from battling it, but in the end… I was able to cast it forth before it fully captured your mind.. or even killed you. You showed a marvelous strength fighting against it yourself for as long as you did…but now.. it is gone for good.”
Agromnir thought about that for a moment and then nodded.
Edhelfaron took a pause and put his hands together, “Now you must tell me exactly how this shadow came upon you,” he said smoothly. “What happened in the Barrow-downs?”
