A strange figure arrives in Ost Guroth, he looks around before heading towards the tower. He enters and searches through the bookshelves. After several minutes he finds a book he's interested in, "A guide to the Lone-lands." He sits down to begin reading and as he does a man comes up to him and draws his sword. "I don't like elves, specially not you High ones,"the man says,"And because I don't like ya, I'm gonna kill ya." Ganerond laughs,"You can try." He then draws his sword and stands up. The man swings at him, but Ganerond ducks the blow. Ganerond then stabs the man through the back killing him. "It isn't wise to attack an elf,"he says mockingly. He continues reading until he comes upon a section about Waethertop. He decides to see it for himself and heads out for Weathertop.
A day later he arrives at Weatherfoot. He spots a small orc camp and sneaks closer to it. He throws a rock away from the camp, drawing one of the orcs away to investigate. Ganerond then slips up quietly behind it and draws a dagger and stabs the vile orc. He searches the body for anything useful and finds a piece of parchment, it is late so he decides to camp on Weathertop and read it in the morning.
He begins the ascension to the summit and makes camp. He then starts taking notes in his journal about the architecture and feel of the place. He describes it as having a "haunting" and "ghostly" feel to the place. After several more minutes of examining the place he beds down for the night.
