Background
To his Highness, King Dain Ironfoot, Son of Náin, Son of Gror, King Under the Mountain, King of Durin’s Folk; To Lord Dwalin, Son of Fundin, Lord of Thorin’s Hall and all august members of the grand council:
As is well known, thanks to the courageous efforts of Lord Dwalin and the brave dwarves among whom I proudly include myself, Thorin’s Hall has been restored to the government of the Longbeards and Tribute flows again to Erebor. The mission undertaken by Lord Dwalin's expedition has been fulfilled successfully. Under this circumstances I Runulf, son of Ranulf propose the foundation of a guild dedicated to exploring these lands once more. I propose that we search to find new ore veins and recover lost treasures in the formerly lost halls of our ancestors. It is our heritage that is out there, plundered by goblins and orcs, stolen from our hands by the northern dragons, waiting to be recovered. As Thorin Oakenshield recovered Erebor I say we recover the rest, our people were and are a great people, old as the mountains, tough as the rock itself. Why stay locked gaining weight in our halls when there are new halls waiting to be dug under the mountains, hidden gems waiting to gain new life in the skillful hands of our craftsmen and new trade routes waiting to be traveled to bring prosperity to the kingdoms of the dwarves.
I know that our goal is ambitious. Is it not that kind of ambition which recovers Erebor and the kingdom under the mountain? This guild will specialize in this, besides being the watchful eyes outside the kingdom. This Middle Earth of ours is a great land, full of possibilities and adventures; this is how I request your permission to establish what will be the Thorin’s Hall Explorers Guild, we will gather under our mantle other dwarves of similar thought, experienced prospectors, accustomed to long journeys in unforgiven territories, hunters and masters of knowledge, warriors who can protect the caravans and the expeditions we will make, we will advance through new paths with old songs on our lips, together we will reach the lofty mountains, only the eagles over our heads turning majestically in the blue sky.
