One step sideways

The days have passed swiftly. The right kind of distraction will do that. This is far from the type I've indulged in for so very long, but it's every bit as good. In fact, it's far more entertaining!

The boy, Ethan, returned as promised. He's really very enthusiastic about his lessons, though he becomes quickly frustrated when his lack of experience and practice lets him down. He's a natural, progressing quickly, though he doesn't see it that way.

Not so much myself. I've never been much of a team player, except under very certain circumstances, and this is new territory. I'm learning too, slowly adjusting to this new role. It's not easy, though it is fun, and the years I spent under the tutelage of Antoth serves me well. I often find myself thinking back to the methods he used to teach me, the patience, warmth and encouragements he used. I do my best to emulate it after my own fashion. It seems to help.

The lessons, however, only last for the first half of the morning. It's not enough to keep me occupied and even with the proximity of the people I call friends, I find myself becoming increasingly bored. The horizon calls more loudly each afternoon, insistent that I should listen.

But I can't leave yet.

So, how best to kill two birds with one stone, as it were? How best to be here to continue the lessons whilst satisfying my need to move?

Audre had a good suggestion. One which I have decided to act upon. The life of a courier is vastly different to the one I have led but it still allows me freedom of movement and gets Steel some good exercise. I'm waiting on letters being drafted by a few of the mercenaries and one or two from Audre herself. Steel and I should be able to cover the distance between here and Bree in short order and I'll still have time for Ethan as well.

If nothing else, this change of pace should prove interesting.
