The Blood, The Wine, The Roses ~ Chapter Six

The greatest truths are revealed over moments of unchecked emotions. Joy. Lust. Fear. In this case, anger. When the binding chains are shaken and rattled; when composure cracks, revealing the nakedness within; when logic and sense take flight, replaced by compulsion and turbulence.

Tonight, I tasted your truth. Tonight, I discovered your borders. Tonight, you showed me your world; and my place within it. It is comforting to exchange suspicion for certainty. To know precisely where I stand. Disappointing, perhaps; yet comforting, nonetheless.

You are one step closer to realising your desires. I am one step further from grasping mine. Trying to keep your head above the water, I only end up pulling you deeper. You are walking the path most cautioned against, and every warning sign merely hastens your step. Ungrateful and ignorant; as people are.

Go ahead and plunge, then. I will be waiting in the depths. Another sunken muse. Another failed attempt. "I destroy everything I touch". You took those words lightly. Yet, there you sway; one foot over the edge, confusing counsel for repression. Running away, running towards, running. Hardly a moment's pause for thought.

Will your wings burst free, before you hit the waves? Or will they swallow you into their dark abyss? Time, our Judge, will tell.
